Karoro has a strong community feel and a wonderful, positive learning environment for New Entrant to Year Eight tamariki.
The school is set in a southern suburb of Greymouth on an elevated site. It has views of the Tasman Sea to the west and is backed by an extensive area of native bush on the eastern boundary. A loop walkway passes through this bush, which makes up two thirds of the school’s property.
Our school has a rich history of academic achievement, extracurricular excellence, and a strong sense of community. Our commitment is to uphold and enhance these traditions while also introducing innovative ideas and approaches that will prepare our students for the challenges and opportunities of the future. Our staff are caring with high expectations for learning, positive attitudes and behaviour. Strong partnerships with whānau support learning and our family feel.
The tamariki are at the centre of all we do and are challenged to drink from the tides of our community knowledge so they will become a person that emerges with a broad vision of the world - He karoro inu tai, he karoro matawhānui.
